Ford is introducing a new entry-level equipment grade for its Fiesta supermini.

The new Trend spec is replacing the previous Zetec grade at the bottom of the range.

It is available in three-door and five-door bodystyles, and comes with a 1.1-litre, 85hp petrol engine.

New standard features over the Zetec include 16in alloy wheels, privacy glass and metallic paint.

Also standard is an 8in touchscreen with DAB radio and Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.

Exterior styling features include a mesh design front grille with chrome surround and halogen projector automatic headlights with daytime running lights.

A lane keeping aid, a speed limiter and the MyKey system – which allows the car’s top speed, maximum audio volume and other settings to be limited when the car is used by a second driver – are also standard.

The Fiesta Trend is priced at £15,995, with deliveries starting next month.
