A new mild hybrid petrol engine option and upgraded technology have been announced for the Mazda3 lower-medium car and Mazda CX-30 SUV.

The new 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G engine – previously seen with the CX-5 SUV – produces 140hp, and replaces the previous 122hp engine in the range line-ups.

As well as the mild hybrid system, it also features cylinder deactivation technology, designed to improve efficiency. Mazda claims other benefits include increased torque and improved refinement.

Both models are also getting integrated Alexa Voice Assistant technology, while the cars’ sat-nav systems are gaining cloud-based points of interest and database updates. These follow on from previously introduced features including a 10.25in central screen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, and USB-C charging ports.

The latest updates are being applied to the 2025 model year versions of the two cars.

The updated Mazda3 is available to order now, while orders for the updated CX-30 will open this autumn.
