Automotive software developer DCML has released an iPhone and iPad app for business drivers who use their own vehicle for work. It uses GPS technology to record car journeys, and the data can be exported via email to show a route and mileage summary.
The app is a simplified version of its Dealer Car Manager app, a courtesy car and fleet management software tool, which the firm claims has a 25% share of the market.
DCML claim that the app ‘cuts red tape’ by allowing employees to manage travel costs and owed expenditure as well as helping employers handle tax-deductable expenses.
A 10-journey trial version is free on the Apple App Store, and beyond that users will need to pay a one-off fee of £1.99 for unlimited journey tracking and statistics.
“For those who want that little bit less hassle in their lives, this new version is ideal.
Vince Powell, managing director of DCML, explained: “It could not be easier to operate, is very accurate and comes with a couple of very neat features. It’s focussed towards the individual rather than the business.
“The full Company Mileage Logger is a service, not just an app”, continued Powell.
“It provides a time-saving package for the business, especially fleet managers, HR staff and financial controllers.”
