Abarth has revealed the 500e, a new performance model based on the Fiat 500 Electric.

The Abarth 500e, which will be available as either a hatchback or cabriolet, features a 155hp electric motor, paired with a 42kWh battery, with acceleration from 0-62mph possible in seven seconds.

85kW charging capability will allow an 80% battery charge within 35 minutes. The model’s range is yet to be confirmed.

Distinguishing exterior styling features include a sporty front bumper, side skirts, a white front air dam, and rear diffuser inserts.

A Sound Generator system will replicate the sound of a petrol engine when the car accelerates.

The model will debut with the Scorpionissima limited launch edition, with equipment including 18in alloy wheels, a fixed glass roof, rear privacy glass, a JBL premium audio system, a 7in digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25in touchscreen featuring performance-tracking Abarth graphics.

The Scorpionissima is available to pre-order online now for Abarth community members. Prices are yet to be announced.
