Mitsubishi has confirmed that it will launch a UK-developed 4Work commercial vehicle version of its new Outlander off-roader, coming only a couple of months behind the passenger car’s March introduction.

Unlike the existing Outlander, the new model will be a 4×4 rather than a crossover vehicle, competing with the likes of Toyota’s RAV4 and the Nissan X-trail, although it is a seven-seater.

It will also feature a diesel, the VW-sourced 134PS 2.0-litre unit also used in the Grandis MPV, with a 2.4-litre automatic version coming a year later.

The Outlander will form the basis for both Peugeot and Citroen’s new off-roaders, due late next year.
