Mini is releasing a new entry-level addition to its range, dubbed the Mini First.
The First, which replaces the One as the cheapest Mini on sale, will cost from £10,950. The One price range starts from 12,345.
The First offers the same 1.4-litre petrol engine as the One, but with power reduced from 96 to 75PS. This lower power combines with a start-stop system, brake regeneration technology and a gear-change indicator to produce fuel economy of 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 128g/km.
Performance takes a knock with the loss of power though, with 0-62mph taking 13.2seconds, compared to the Mini One’s 10.9secs.
Three options packages are available for the First, a Design Package, Tech Package and Salt Package. Amongst other features, Design brings chrome touches, a leather steering wheel and heated mirrors, Tech offers Bluetooth and a passenger airbag cut-off switch, while Salt gives floor mats and an on-board computer.
