The new Mazda 2, launched at the Geneva motor show, will give the Japanese brand a 10,000-car hike in sales, according to the firm’s new fleet boss James Hopkins.
“We take around 2% of the market segments where we have cars, so in the supermini market the Mazda 2 will give us 10,000 cars,” said Hopkins.
Mazda will launch several new models this year including the Mazda 2, the CX7 performance soft-roader and an all-new model at the end of the year.
“We’ll launch the CX7 in September,” said Hopkins. “It fits in the premium 4×4 market, which is growing.”
Hopkins also predicted 2007 sales would continue the firm’s recent upward trend.
