Manheim has sold more vehicles through its online sales broadcasting in the first six months of 2009 than in the whole of 2008.

Last year’s total of 13,517 sales was passed on 1 July when a 2002 BMW 3-series was bought from the Manheim Leeds auction. The winning bidder, Wesley Daniel, bought the car on behalf of a Essex dealership and has used the online system nearly 200 times over the last two years.

“Simulcast is a good system that allows us to stay close to our business,” said Daniel. “Buying online is convenient for our business needs and we rely on it a lot to buy our vehicles.”

Manheim broadcasts an average of 50 auctions per week from all its 18 UK centres. “Simulcast just continues to grow and grow as it becomes more readily accepted by the great majority of buyers and has become an integral part of the remarketing landscape,” said Manheim boss Mike Pilkington.
