Citroen is renewing its fleet appeal with a series of low-CO2 model introductions.
The C3 range now has four models at under 100g/km, including the 93g/km eHDI VTR+ version of the supermini, while the C3’s sporty cousin, the DS3, is now available with a 95g/km version of the 90hp diesel engine, as well as two other 98g/km iterations.
In another move designed at least in part to capitalise on 2012’s shifting benefit-in-kind tax bands is a sub-100g/km version of the lower medium C4 hatchback. As of next April, only vehicles under 100g/km will be eligible for the lowest BIK band of 10% for petrol models and 13% for diesels. Available only in fleet-friendly VTR+ trim, the eHDI 110 Airdream has CO2 emissions of 98g/km and a fuel consumption figure of 67.3mpg.
The lower-emission diesels will be joined in the first quarter of next year by the company’s first hybrid in the form of the diesel-electric DS5. The Hybrid4 technology will give the upper medium DS5 an emissions figure 99g/km yet power of 200hp. Unlike its sporty DS3 and crossover DS4 siblings, the DS5 is designed as a “full-on executive vehicle” and will cost from around £25,000.
