Lexus used the recent Beijing motor show to premiere production versions of its NX compact sports utility model.

Conceived as a rival to lifestyle 4x4s such as the Range Rover Evoque, the NX uses a variety of styling elements that are becoming familiar on Lexus’s latest saloon offerings, including a deep triangulated grill, body side scallops and arrow-like, LED tail lamp clusters.

Inside, the NX continues the ergonomic ideas found on models such as the IS300.

As with its bigger RX 4×4 sibling, the NX is not being launched with diesel engines; instead, it uses a mix of petrol 2.0 and petrol-electric hybrid powertrains, with European sales concentrated on the latter when the car arrives next year.
