Clarke Telecom, the North West-based wireless telecommunications provider, has awarded Lex Autolease the contract to be its fleet provider switching to a solus Vauxhall fleet.
It will bolster Clarke Telecom’s infrastructure with an 80-strong fleet comprising of Vauxhall Astra, Insignia and Mokka models across its network of telecoms engineers and support staff.
The new contract is a whole life cost policy, covering vehicle costs throughout their lifespan.
Clark Telecom accepted the contract on the basis that Lex will reduce its annual fleet costs by 5%.
An appraisal of the company’s existing fleet contract was undertaken by Lex’s fleet consultancy team which identified areas of potential cost saving. The team worked with Clark Telecom’s fleet manager Joanne Shepherd to make sure the vehicles chosen met the needs of the company’s drivers.
Following the strategic review, Lex Autolease’s advisors recommended making the switch to a Vauxhall ‘solus’ badge deal, with all vehicles sourced from one manufacturer.
Funding methodology for the fleet cars in the deal has also been changed from an existing hire purchase deal to a new contract purchase with maintenance agreement.
Clark Telecom expects the new deal to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, with the majority of new vehicles emitting a third less CO2 than the organisation’s previous fleet.
Lex is currently pitching a fuel efficiency management proposal to Clark Telecom to cut costs by £180,000 over a four-year period.
John Phythian, financial director at Clarke Telecom, said: “By carefully and thoroughly reviewing the fleet service we already had, and implementing the new package, our costs should be considerably reduced.
“We can invest the money we’ll save back into improving our core services, which means everybody will benefit.”
