Land Rover is ahead of internal expectations for the UK, according to Anthony Bradbury, UK marketing director, despite fleet registrations being down 42% compared to a market that’s running 30% down.

Speaking at the launch of the facelifted Ranger Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery, Bradbury said: “The run-out of stock went well for the 2009 cars, so we’re now ready for the 2010 model-year cars.”

However, he added Land Rover still “expects 2010 to be a challenge”.

Bradbury was bullish about the fleet prospects for the facelifted vehicles thanks to significantly improved residual values over the outgoing cars.

“Cap has given the Discovery 3.0 TDV6 XS a 35% RV at three years/60,000 miles – that’s a 15% improvement on the previous 2.7 V6 equivalent,” said Bradbury. “On Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE it’s now 39%, up 12% on the previous car.”
