For 2020, the Kia XCeed and Ceed Sportswagon gain PHEV plug-in hybrid versions.

Both are powered by a 1.6-litre non-turbo petrol engine with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic, combined with an electric motor and 8.9kWh battery pack. Together, they yield 139hp.

Both cars are available to order now, with first UK deliveries expected in April.

In EV mode, the XCeed and Ceed Sporstwagon can travel in pure electric mode for up to 36 and 37 miles respectively. Using a 3.3kW AC charger, their battery packs can be replenished to 100 per cent in 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Prices start at £30,695 for the XCeed and £29,995 for the Sportswagon. Both come only in the high-spec ‘3’ trim level, or in First Edition for the XCeed.

As a result, they come with a lot of standard equipment, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, European mapping, DAB radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
