Kia has launched a range-topping Sportage, called KX-4, which will use the carmaker’s 2.0-litre CRDi turbodiesel engine with 181hp and all-wheel drive, achieving 0-60mph in 9.4 seconds.

Available in six-speed manual or automatic transmission, it will emit 158g/km and 189g/km CO2 respectively.

Priced from £27,195, the KX-4 will have a high specification including leather interior, privacy glass, satnav, panoramic sunroof, heated front and rear seats and colour reversing camera.

Meanwhile, Paul Philpott, formerly Kia managing director in the UK from 2007 to 2009 returns to the helm as president and chief executive of Kia Motors UK and Ireland after a stint as chief operating officer for Kia Motors Europe.
