Jaguar has announced updates to its XF executive car, including diesel engines that avoid the 4% company car tax surcharge normally applied with the fuel.

This is because they meet the new Real Driving Emissions 2 (RDE2) standard, which will be compulsory for all cars from January 2021.

The 2.0-litre diesel engines – with either 163hp or 180hp and rear-wheel drive – are available with either the saloon or Sportbrake estate models.

As well as being optimised for RDE2, CO2 emissions have been cut by as much as 8%, thanks to other developments such as the fitting of ultra-low resistance tyres.

Jaguar says that for company car buyers, the lower BIK rate combined with lower first year VED means a three-year saving of up to £2,304.

Jaguar Land Rover UK MD Rawdon Glover said: “Our significant investment in the most advanced engine technology means that on selected new diesel Jaguar XF models, customers can benefit from significant tax savings whilst enjoying a Jaguar sport saloon.

“These new diesel engines meet the demanding target, set by the latest European standards, well ahead of schedule.

“The test results reflect their performance in real-world driving conditions – and Jaguar’s commitment to offering customers outstanding driving dynamics with the lowest cost and impact on the environment.”

Another update for the XF range is that a Smartphone Pack featuring Apple Carplay and Android Auto is now standard on all models.

Jaguar has also announced a Chequered Flag special edition, which gets exterior design tweaks including a sports front bumper, body-coloured side sills, a boot spoiler and gloss black 18in alloy wheels.jaguar

Interior features include an aluminium instrument panel finisher, full leather trim and a choice of ebony or ebony/pimento colour combinations with contrast stitching.
