Honda is considering installing hydrogen filling centres at its car, motorbike and ‘power products’ (which include lawnmowers, generators, pumps and other kit) dealerships, according to the company’s UK car boss Phil Webb.

“We’ve got more than 700 dealerships in the UK, so that gives us a great opportunity. What could we do with the dealers to get the infrastructure right?”

Honda’s hydrogen fuel cell-powered FCV went on sale in Japan last month, but the infrastructure remains a “challenge”, Webb states.

When quizzed on whether this would mean 700 Honda hydrogen filling stations, Webb replied: “That’d be lovely. Why not? Those are the kind of things Honda will continue looking at. The technology exists”.
