A survey by insurance site Gocompare.com has claimed that 36% of UK drivers have let servicing slip, causing concern for employees using private vehicles for business use.

The research showed that 27% of drivers continued to use their vehicles for more than 2000 miles after exceeding the manufacturer’s recommended servicing mileage, while 10% were believed to be driving on overly worn or damaged tyres.

The scrimping is being blamed on the poor economy, to the point where almost a quarter of those surveyed said they would attempt to service a car themselves to save money and 20% were putting off general repairs such as replacing windscreen wipers or tyres.
