The Department for Transport has announced an extension to the ultra-low emission Plug-in Van Grant.

The grant, which launched in 2012, provides purchasers with a 20% discount, worth up to £8000, from the upfront cost of a new electric van.

The DfT claimed the incentive has supported over 1250 vans. It said the grant would be extended to “meet continued demand.”

“Ultra-low emission vans are cheaper to run and with a variety of models now eligible for the grant, there has never been a better time for business to take advantage and start saving money,” said Baroness Kramer, transport minister.

“The Government is supporting UK companies that are leading the way on cleaner and greener transport,” added Kramer.
