Ford is the most trusted car maker in the UK, according to a new survey by Future Thinking
The research found that 29% of the 2735 people questioned believe the Dagenham-based car maker is a trusted brand.
Ford is followed by BMW in second place (27%) and Audi in third (25%).
The five lowest-ranked brands are Suzuki, Smart (both 3%), Seat, Subaru (both 4%) and Skoda (5%).
The survey was conducted in the wake of the Volkswagen emissions scandal and respondents were asked to list the names of car makers they trust.
Volkswagen has a 10% trust rating, alongside sister brand Porsche and Volvo.
There is, however, a generational split, with BMW topping the list in both the under 18 category and the 18-34 section, while Ford leads the other two segments (35-54 and 55+).
“The best-selling car brands for the first quarter of 2015, according to SMMT data were Ford, Vauxhall and Volkswagen and the success of car sales for Ford is also reflected in it being the most trusted brand, especially for older generations,” said Lisa Bedwell, senior director at Future Thinking.
