Ford is predicting a decrease in the mini-MPV market next year due to Motability, the UK’s largest fleet with about 500,000 vehicles, reducing RVs in the sector.

MD Nigel Sharp said: “Motability used to take 25-30% of that sort of vehicle. Recently they cut back on that business. The trend for regular C-segment cars is to get lower and wider, so there’s a need for more space, and there will be more people going for these [mini-MPV] cars.

“Motability is saying that RVs will soften so it costs more to do, so sales drop – because of the increase in the cost of doing a zero up-front offer.”
