Ford has modified the upper medium Mondeo range, adding a new trim level geared towards fleet users and cleaner engines.

The new Titanium X Business Edition costs £21,995 – £1500 less than the outgoing Titanium X version – and includes equipment such as leather seats, touch-screen satnav and rear privacy glass.

The 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine can now be had with 119g/km in 140hp and 163hp guises, which is a drop of up to 10g/km depending on the model. Fuel consumption for the higher powered car is up from 57.6mpg and 61.4mpg.

The firm has also added a new Graphite Special Edition model. Aimed more at retail customers than corporate operators, it creates a low-cost entry level to the range with a list price of £15,995 for the 1.6 TI-TVCT petrol version.

The updates come following a delay in production of the next-generation Mondeo, which was previously due for launch in the first quarter of 2013 but is now scheduled for early 2014.
