Ford‘s new C-max, on sale in October, will also offer a seven-seat version after the brand recognised a growing demand for larger family cars in the segment.
The carmaker expects the Grand C-max to sell 11,500 in its first full year compared with 7500 C-max models after research showed 60% of buyers in the MPV market want seven-seaters.
Marketing director Mark Simpson said: “When the C-max launched in 2002, it preserved the brand’s qualities but added more flexibility and space to the Focus package. Since then the market has expanded considerably with customers expressing a variety of needs. These are met with the family-friendly seven-seater and the sporty but spacious five-seater.”
He added: “The new C-max and Grand C-max are priced to offer customers best value for money while still introducing many exciting new technologies, which will feature on the new Focus next year.”
