BCA reported a 5.6% fall in values in May, equating to an average £443 drop on April to £7428 across cars sourced from fleets and leasing companies.

It was the first monthly drop in values since December, and performance versus the Cap clean standard dropped from 96.9% to 94.9%, which BCA put down to Cap’s lack of pricing movement last month. Year-on-year figures for fleet and leasing were £404 above May 2009, compared with April being £986 above the same month last year.

“We have been telling our customers for some time that we expect prices to stabilise in 2010,” said a BCA spokesman.
