Vauxhall has revealed the first official images of its all-new premium city car known as the Adam.

The pictures of a heavily camouflaged test mule show a three-door hatchback about the same size as a Mini.

The firm has yet to reveal details on engines, transmissions and running costs, but it is believed that low-capacity three-cylinder petrol and diesel units will make up the bulk of the range when the Adam goes on sale in 2013.

A more powerful four-cylinder engine is expected to follow later on, as is an all-electric version. Vauxhall hasn’t confirmed it yet but the Adam is likely to be unveiled at the Paris motor show in September.
