Peugeot has unveiled a facelifted version of its 208 supermini and the new model will come with a diesel engine with emissions below 80g/km CO2.

The facelifted model is due to go on sale in June. UK Prices and specification will be announced nearer to the car’s launch.
 
The French car maker claimed it has produced the world’s most economical internal combustion engine with the its 79g/km 75hp 1.6-litre diesel. Peugeot is also offering more powerful versions in 100hp and 120hp guises.
 
The 208 will also be available with the firm’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder 110hp engine emits 103g/km of CO2 when equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, or 104g/km when fitted with a six-speed automatic ‘box.
 
The 208’s seven-inch  touchscreen remains standard from the Active trim level upwards, but it has been upgraded to take account of software improvements. The touchscreen now includes MirrorScreen which makes it possible to transfer the screen of a smartphone to the vehicle’s display.
 
New technology on offer includes an active city brake and a reversing camera, while the range of colours has been expanded to 13 colours.
