A new fleet management company called First Car Fleet has entered the market, and has set its sights on small- to medium-sized businesses.
It launched on 1 September and is targeting fleets of 75 vehicles or fewer, which it feels are under-catered for by larger management firms. However, it claims it can offer a service for larger fleets if required. First Car Fleet is aiming to offer a bespoke, face-to-face service. It’s privately funded, and key staff members each have 30 years of experience in fleet management.
Company founder and managing director Mark James has worked for companies such as Masterlease and Autolease in sales, leasing and fleet management roles.
“At First Car Fleet it’s all about our customers,” said James. “We take ownership of customers’ problems and difficulties, managing the whole process of acquiring, running and disposing of fleet vehicles, leaving clients to get on with running their businesses.”
James said customer requirements will shape First Car Fleet: “We’ll find out where small fleets’ difficulties lie. Then the plan is to tailor and develop our business with what clients are requesting.”
James claimed there is a gap in the market for a company offering a high quality of service to small fleets.
“I’ve not come across one particular company that is outstanding in this area. Large companies will hire dedicated staff to give a bespoke service for large fleets. I’m not aware of anyone giving this lower down the scale.”
First Car Fleet is based in Chepstow in South Wales, but claims to be able to offer the same personal service to businesses nationwide.
