Crash test authority Euro NCAP has announced the results of its tests of six new vehicles, five of which achieved the top five-star rating.

The Audi A3, Ford B-max, Isuzu D-max, Kia Ceed, Renault Clio and Volvo V40 have all undergone the test and only the Isuzu scored four stars, although the organisation noted that this represented a dramatic improvement over its predecessor, which received two stars when it was tested in 2008.

Volvo’s lower medium V40 achieved the highest-ever score in its segment, thanks in part to its pedestrian airbag system.
