The Energy Saving Trust has introduced an online tool to allow fleets to check their environmental credentials. Known as Fleet Health Check Online, the free service calculates a business transport carbon footprint and provides a series of recommendations as to how each company can cut costs and emissions.

The EST’s fleet partnership manager, David Watts, said: “Organisations are under increasing pressure to reduce fleet emissions and operating costs.

“Our new carbon footprinting service has been developed to help employers understand the impact of their transport operations and take steps towards reducing emissions.

“It costs approximately £600 to create a tonne of CO2 from road transport – nearly twice as much as from electricity.

“Small changes to an organisation’s transport carbon footprint could have a greater impact than making changes in any other business area.”
