Car-sharing service DriveNow has updated its app to allow people to rent vehicles in seconds.

Previously, drivers would need to fill out insurance and damage report forms before being able to drive off, a spokesman for DriveNow told BusinessCar.

Now all they need to do is unlock the car via a smartphone app and type in a four-digit security code.

Drivers will be able to unlock the vehicles once they’re within 150 metres of the car, while the updated app will also allow motorists to plan journeys.

In addition to the app updates, the firm’s website has been refreshed to be more responsive than before.

“We’ve worked with our customers to develop the new DriveNow app to make sure it meets their needs”, said Nico Gabriel, CEO of DriveNow. “Most of our customers already rent their vehicles using the app. With the relaunch and our use of state of the art technology, they can now do even more with their smartphone and the DriveNow app. By integrating more of the rental process into the app, we have significantly sped up the process, making it quicker and simpler for customers.”
