Mazda is to boost the UK?shortage of diesel engines for the 6 by diverting supplies from European markets where diesel sales are declining.

UK MD Jeremy Thomson said the extra units underline the 6’s strong fleet performance. The car will also gain a new 185PS 2.2-litre diesel from early 2009, which Thomson would “help us respond to the sub-premium [volume] sector’s demand for more power and competitive CO2 levels”.
