The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is now available to order with a new 48V hybrid powertrain, and with a new E-Series equipment grade.

The new powertrain features a 136hp petrol engine, together with a 48V battery pack, a 21kW electric motor, and an electrified dual clutch gearbox.

Citroen says the electric motor can drive the car by itself in situations when not much torque is required, such as at low speeds, when manoeuvring, or when slowing down, and assists the petrol engine when starting and accelerating. When the car is decelerating, it acts as a generator to charge the battery.

It is available with either the Shine equipment grade, or the new E-Series equipment grade, standard equipment with which includes 19in alloy wheels, a bi-tone roof, a panoramic glass sunroof with an opening front portion, Alcantara and leather effect trim, six-way electric driver’s seat adjustment, heated front seats, and Highway Driver Assist with adaptive cruise control, stop and go and active lane keeping assist.

The C5 Aircross with the new 48V powertrain is priced at £32,295 with the Shine grade, and £33,530 with the E-Series grade.

The E-Series grade is also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with which it is priced at £38,375.
