After narrowly missing out on winning this category last year, the Q7 has taken gold in the large 4×4 sector, thereby giving Audi its sixth BusinessCar Award of 2008.
Last year was the Q7’s first full year of sales and it hit the market by storm, selling nearly 3000 cars – well ahead of any of its rivals.
And even though this mighty off-roader has only just gone on sale Audi has already revealed enhancements for the range. At the end of last year the German brand revealed a two-part initiative aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its Q7 4×4 with a petrol-electric hybrid version.
Ahead of the hybrid’s expected launch at the end of this year was the immediate introduction of a revised, cleaner and more efficient 3.0-litre TDI version.
The hybrid is based on the 3.6-litre petrol-powered variant and is mated to an electric motor located in the drivetrain. It generates a claimed 23% reduction, both in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
