Audi has revealed a long-wheelbase version of its latest A8, which will go on sale in July with prices starting from around £58,000. The A8 L adds 130mm to the car’s wheelbase length, which is “incorporated at the rear to maximise passenger comfort”, said Audi.

Four engines – 3.0-litre TDI (250hp), 4.2-litre TDI (350hp), 4.2-litre FSI (372hp) and 6.3-litre W12 FSI (500hp) – are available.

Additional equipment includes heated outer rear seats, sunroof, four-zone climate control, and electric rear and side window blinds.

With orders being taken from July and deliveries from December, the highest-powered engine sees a 12% improvement in fuel economy over its predecessor, which delivers 23.5mpg on a combined cycle and 278g/km CO2.
