Audi is introducing a new plug-in hybrid version of its A3 lower-medium car, with an EV-only range more than double that of its predecessor.
The A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e features a 25.7kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 88 miles on its 115hp electric motor alone, which places it in the 5% company car tax BIK band.
The battery is also compatible with DC fast charging at up to 50kW, allowing a 10-80% battery charge in less than half an hour.
The model also comes with a 1.5-litre, 150hp petrol engine – combined maximum output is 204hp. A six-speed dual-clutch gearbox is standard.
The Sportback 40 TFSI e is being made available in the UK with a choice of Sport, S Line, and Black Edition equipment grades, priced at £39,150, £41,430, and £42,880 respectively.
Sales are scheduled to begin in November.
