BusinessCar Award-winning fleet management company Alphabet has launched a temporary charging solution aimed at customers evaluating whether electric vehicles would fit their fleet.

Created in conjunction with electricity firm EDF Energy, the “charge before you buy scheme” offers three charging points available for fleets to lease for up to three months.

Alphabet said the points, attached to free-standing non-invasive pinnacles designed to cause minimal disruption, give customers an “at the pump charging experience”.

“For a number of years now, EDF Energy has been working closely with the automotive industry to help bring developments in EV charging to the market,” said Mark Constable, senior product manager at EDF Energy. “Fully or partially-electrified vehicle fleets mean a large decrease in carbon emissions which can have a real impact on a company’s reduction targets.”

The move dovetails with the firm’s EV consultancy arm AlphaElectric, which recently announced it has received over 1000 orders since it was launched in 2013.
