Ford has confirmed it will continue with the Fiesta nameplate for its new supermini, coming to the UK this autumn and pictured here for the first time. It has also confirmed an eco-friendly sub-100g/km model due before the end of the year.
There had been speculation that the new model would drop Fiesta branding and take on take on the Verve name that adorned last year’s concept car. The production version will be revealed to the public next month’s Geneva motor show.
The sixth generation Fiesta will again be offered in three- and five-door bodystyles, and with a choice of four petrol and three diesel engines, the most interesting of which is the Econetic version claimed to come in with CO2 figures below 100g/km.
Other engines are 60 and 80PS versions of the 1.25-litre petrol, as well as 91PS 1.4 and 115PS 1.6 petrols, while diesel 1.4- 68PS and 1.6-litre 90PS options will be offered.
