BMW has revealed the first undisguised pictures of its new small off-roader the X1.

Available in four-wheel drive or rear-drive formats the BMW X1 will badged either xDrive or sDrive accordingly and will only be imported with a choice of diesel engines to the UK.

Business car drivers will be able to choose from three 2.0-litre diesels at launch with 143PS, 177PS and 204PS outputs.

All but the xDrive23d model come in below the 160g/km limit for capital allowance taxation and the sDrive18d has a CO2 figure of 136g/km putting it in the 18% benefit-in-kind tax band.

BMW attributes the low CO2 figures to its Efficient Dynamics packaging which includes stop-start on the manual X1 cars.

The X1 arrives in the UK at the end of October priced from £22,660 for the sDrive18d.
