Alfa Romeo has introduced a new Sport trim option for its Giulietta hatchback.

The car gets an exterior makeover including 17in alloy wheels, side skirts, tinted rear windows, a front splitter, fog lights, a rear diffuser with red detailing and an enlarged exhaust, while the interior gets dark headlining.

Standard kit on the Sport includes a 5in screen running Uconnect live services, a leather steering wheel, cruise control and climate control.

There are six airbags, and the car also comes with Alfa’s electronic differential and dynamic steering torque systems, as well as an electronic stability control system with anti-slip regulation and hill holder.

Under the bonnet, there’s a choice of a 1.4-litre petrol engine or a 1.6-litre diesel, both of which produce 120hp.

The petrol version has an official combined fuel economy figure of 45.6mpg, CO2 emissions of 144g/km, and gets from 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds, while the figures for the diesel are 74.3mpg, 99g/km and ten seconds.

The top speed with both engines is 121mph. Prices are £20,965 for the petrol and £22,230 for the diesel.

Alfa says the Sport has been designed as an entry point to the performance-focused models in the Giulietta range, which also includes the Speciale and Veloce.
