Fleet management firm ALD Automotive has appointed Mel Dawson as its new MD.

Dawson reports to ALD International’s deputy chief executive Tim Albertson, who is based in Paris.

He joined the company in 1997 as commercial director before becoming sales director in 2005.

During the last three years ALD’s fleet has grown by 35,000 vehicles, largely as a result of its TCO consultancy service and ProFleet2 telematics offering.

ALD’s chief executive Mike Masterson said the firm was keen to make an internal appointment to continue its growing presence in the fleet market and to provide a platform for ALD to take a leading position in the UK contract hire market.

Dawson succeeds Keith Allen, who has joined ARI Fleet UK as managing director.
