EDF Energy’s electric vehicle team manager Kate Armitage urged the gathered fleet managers to help the process of normalising electric vehicles.

“These are just cars and at some point in the future we need to stop talking about them as something exceptional,” she said.

“There are clear areas where plug-in vehicles work well, and you have to put vehicles where they will do no more than 80 miles, but you also have to put them somewhere where they will do at least 50 miles to get the fuel savings,” continued Armitage.

“We’re looking for a modest take-up in a large number of fleets, and early adopters will be rewarded with a large number of incentives.”
