Renault will have a new lowest-emitting conventional car in its range when the Clio gets down to 90g/km. It’s a drop from the current car’s 98g/km and is achieved via changes to the gearing.

The firm is also introducing a new 130hp 1.6-litre diesel engine with stop-start to the Megane and Scenic ranges next spring, replacing the current 1.9 of the same power but cutting emissions by a yet-to-be-confirmed amount.
