Peugeot has revealed the inside of its upcoming new 3008, which shares features with the smaller 2008 crossover and 308 lower medium hatchback, including a shrunken steering wheel, dials visible over the wheel and a raised centre console complete with a touchscreen media system.
The so-called ‘i-Cockpit’ in the Nissan Qashqai-rival offers greater comfort and safety levels according to the manufacturer, showcasing digital high-mounted dials and an interactive touchscreen interface.
The new version of i-Cockpit will have a redesigned, smaller steering wheel in an attempt to make the dials more easily visible and increased leg space. Mounted higher on the dashboard, the 12.3-inch digital dials are positioned in the driver’s line of sight, allowing quicker access to information.
Meanwhile, there is also an eight-inch touchscreen media system, which offers voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, Mirrorlink and Android Auto compatibility and enables hands-free device control.
