Sophisticated technology provides live navigation and traffic information into the car, direct from Trafficmaster’s UK control centre. Road conditions are updated every few minutes and all navigation maps are kept right up-to-date on central computers.
Trafficmaster claims impressive results: customers using these services say they save an average of four hours a month, by taking the best routes and avoiding jams along the way. Over a year, that means spending the equivalent of six working days less on the road. Put another way, that’s 300,000 working days a year for 50,000 customers, time worth £64 million, according to the DfT.
Trafficmaster’s services are delivered to drivers via Intelligent Vehicle Units, which receive a menu of services tailored to the customer. These include 24-hour personal travel assistance, satellite navigation with dynamic route guidance and real-time traffic information, stolen vehicle tracking, emergency and breakdown support, speed camera detection and fleet management services. All UK services are managed in Trafficmaster’s Bedfordshire Control Centre, ensuring the latest, most accurate information.
