This week saw the launch of our 2013 Fleet Technology Awards, or ‘Techies’, the corporate car market’s only awards designed to recognise and commend the products and services that best serve the industry in terms of making life easier, quicker, cleaner or safer for fleet operators.

This is the fifth time we have run these awards, and each year we’re surprised by the steps that have been taken in the preceding 12 months, and quite how clever and innovative those businesses that supply and work with fleet operators can be.

This call for entries is aimed at both those companies that think their use of technology puts them in with a shout of winning one of the categories, and also at the industry at large.

Anyone is welcome to nominate the technology, however big or small, that makes their lives easier, and we’ll take that on board within the judging process.

This year’s categories include everything from Best Fleet Management System and Best Green Development to Best Car Safety System and Best App.

Entries close on 12 July and the winners will be announced in our special Techies issue on 20 August.

Speaking of which, I’d like to thank prominent ACFO board member Damian James for his help and expertise in being part of the judging panel.

His interest in and knowledge of technology makes him a valuable part of the team that will again decide on the best applications of technology in the business car market.
