Highly Commended: SMA Vehicle Remarketing Pocket Inspector
BCA needed to find a way of cutting down the time professional buyers were spending to find the right used car stock, which prompted the auction company to overhaul the ways its online search works.
The firm’s research showed that buyers were spending up to two and a half hours preparing for an auction. Each search, from inputting criteria to getting filtered results, was taking up to two minutes due to the sheer amount of stock available, with BCA selling more than one million vehicles a year. The changes have shaved loading times to under a second and cut the average search time by 75% to 30 seconds.
BCA developed the new search functionality in-house and focussed on simplifying the process, removing the amount of clicks it took to get a result. The facility features a consumer-styled layout with mileage sliders, date calendars and a make/model selector. Results update as soon as each of the search parameters are altered.
The judges were impressed with how BCA rolled out the improvements so quickly, and how it invited comment from those using each iteration of the new search, with a feedback button to highlight ideas and improvements.
The improvement in BCA’s search function is an ongoing process and the firm is looking to add in new search parameters that will let customers drill down to detailed stock criteria such as colour, specification and trim level.
