Stoke Park Golf Club was the superb setting for our first-ever Golf Day, as 28 of the industry’s biggest hitters competed for individual and team prizes
The inaugural BusinessCar Golf Day took place at the glamorous Stoke Park Club in Buckinghamshire earlier this month.
Supported by Enterprise and Masterlease, teams from some of the biggest companies in the business battled it out for victory in individual, team, longest drive and nearest the pin categories.
The prize-giving ceremony took place in Stoke Park’s opulent Fountain Room at the end of a three-course meal, with Citroen‘s Ian Hughes grabbing the top individual prize, ahead of Enterprise’s Joanna Brewer and Tosh Crompton from Jaguar. Hughes’s partnership with Neal Francis of Pendragon – representing Citroen on the day – was enough to secure the team prize ahead of a Nissan team headed by fleet boss James Douglas and the first of two Masterlease pairings.
Enterprise secured a clean sweep of the spot prizes, with the longest drive of the day earning the company’s Sean Rigg (playing on the GM squad) a new Wilson driver, and the two nearest the pin competitions won by Ed Spitzer and Don Moore. The latter won a satnav system provided by fellow competitor Trafficmaster and its boss John Lawrence, while Spitzer is the proud owner of a new sand wedge that hopefully won’t see too much bunker action.
One of the UK’s most prestigious courses, Stoke Park offered a challenging array of hazards and watery graves for balls. Six specially selected penalty sand traps also raised £120 to be split between the National Autistic Society and MS Trust charities.
