It was a big year-end for Epyx, with a change of ownership announced in November as Fleetcor, owner of the UK’s largest fuel card brand Allstar, among plenty of other fleet interests, acquired the software specialist from previous owner Hg Capital.

“They have developed a highly specialised system that helps their fleet customers better manage their overall maintenance life cycle and costs,” said Fleetcor chief executive Ron Clarke, explaining the acquisition. “We like the potential to bring this solution to a lot more clients.”

One reason for the firm winning its sixth consecutive BusinessCar Award is that it announced a new platform in June, designed to make it easier for fleets to arrange tyre changes or servicing and repairs at independent garages while still maintaining the manufacturer warranty.

“Initially, we are making tyres available. We believe this is a big opportunity for both franchise and independent garages to supply more tyres to both fleets and private customers.

“Manufacturers are especially keen to add tyres to their national fleet service offering,” said tyre programme director Mike Wise.

“In time, through e-procurement, we expect to add oils and fluids, consumables and, ultimately, parts.”
