Land Rover‘s first stab at producing a compact version of the Range Rover became a trendy hit the second it was announced, so it’s no surprise that 2013 marks the second win for the Evoque in this category, following its debut last year.

It’s by no means the cheapest small 4×4 around but it is the most affordable way into the hallowed Range Rover brand, with P11D values starting at £29,020.

The Evoque’s compact proportions and smaller, cleaner diesel engines than those of its bigger brothers render it a far more cost-friendly

way into premium 4×4 ownership, although you will have to settle for a

front-wheel drive version if you want the lowest emissions and best economy – the 2.2-litre eD4 version being the cleanest of the range with 133g/km and 56.5mpg.

As much as costs count in the business car arena, it’s undeniably the Evoque’s emotional appeal that keeps it in favour with corporate users. It’s

as good to look at as it is fashionable and the interior has the same sturdy and luxurious qualities that can be found elsewhere in the Land Rover and Range Rover line-ups.
