Well it’s now 18 years in a row for the most dominated of the BusinessCar Awards. The giant once again takes the plaudits despite a change at the very top, with Peter Lambert coming in to replace long-standing previous incumbent Mike Wise as chief executive of Kwik-Fit Fleet.
And Lambert isn’t just sitting back and enjoying the scenery from on high – he has plenty of plans to expand. MoT tests, winter tyres, light commercial vehicles and longer opening hours to help with fleet contracts are all on the horizon.
Focusing on the achievement of retaining the BusinessCar Award, Lambert puts the success down to a combination of factors. “We’ve got the most coverage, mobile operation, good systems and processes, and a culture within the business where customer service is important,” he said.
There’s also the pilot scheme of a collect and deliver service to look forward to in 2011 (which will be rolled out to more areas if the initial trial is deemed successful), while the winter tyre programme is likely to grow this year as more fleets analyse the cost of having vehicles off the road in a cold snap. Lambert sees that area of the business growing “bit by bit” over the next five to 10 years.
