As the credit crunch bit in the second half of 2008 and fleets shied away from signing new lease deals, daily rental firms saw an opportunity, and Enterprise was no exception.
“We’ve kind of taken a consultancy approach,” said Enterprise boss Don Moore. “Clearly car rental today is more important than ever but you need to look at a bunch of different elements with how you travel.”
Moore said Enterprise, which has retained this award, helps its customers explore various solutions including public transport to see which alternative best meets their journey need.
“You have to do what’s best for the customer if you want to work with them for a long time,” said Moore. Enterprise has also been advising clients to be aware of the difference in cost between paying employees to use their own car for longer or frequent trips, versus the cost of rental.
The firm’s Month or More programme of longer-term rental has also grown during 2008, and Moore predicted that trend will continue as fleets hesitate over committing to long-term lease agreements in the current climate.
